Here are some ideas things to help make your voice and data network more eco-friendly: Check for air leaks in your switch room and/or data center. Is the cool air from the air conditioning leaking out conduit runs or askew ceiling tiles? Do the doors into the room(s) have gaskets at the bottom to prevent air loss into the hallway? Maintain air filters and replace when necessary. Clogged air filters on equipment can put a strain on your equipment and their power supply. When your equipment can't "breathe," it is more likely to overheat. Consolidate your telecom switch room and your data center. If it's possible, why not pool the resources (i.e. air conditioning) to one area of the building, instead of maintaining separate spaces. If you're making the switch from TDM to VoIP, now may be the perfect time to make the change!
